Leading bathroom brand VitrA announces its Continuing Professional Development (CPD) module, approved by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). The seminar Bathroom Design and Specification: Ceramic Sanitaryware provides a practical insight into working with ceramic sanitaryware and the specific considerations and processes that architects should be aware of. It covers important topics such as industry standards and regulations, innovation and technology and environmental sustainability.
The training session covers the characteristics of the different ceramic materials used and the 6-step manufacturing process from preparing the raw materials to casting and vitrifying methods and quality control. It also explains the diverse range of regulations involved in sanitary and water installations including the Code of Practice for Sanitary Installations and the WRAS approval. The seminar also touches on sustainability, discussing topics such as reducing the use of non-renewable resources, boosting eco-efficiency and promoting resource conservation.
A first for VitrA Bathrooms, the CPD follows three successful modules by the VitrA tiles division: Understanding, specifying and designing with tiles; Specifying tiles for the hospitality sector; and Swimming pools with a tile finish.

The Tuzla plant in Istanbul is focused on bathroom furniture and mosaic tiles, while the factory at Gebze concentrates on acrylic products including baths, whirlpools, shower trays, and shower systems. Within the main complex is VitrA’s Innovation Centre – a state-of-the-art incubator building accommodating the company’s research and development strands.
